Clear choices for mayor

Lewiston voters have clear choices for mayor.

Lewiston's two recent experiences display the difference between Larry Gilbert and Mark Paradis.

As councilor, Paradis led the charge to sell the dump to Casella and spoke in anger about it being a lost opportunity at the public outcry to stop the deal.

Mayor Gilbert, on the other hand, led efforts for public involvement, exposing the deal with Casella. Gilbert's leadership and courage stopped the Casella deal.

Paradis called buying the Colisée a "no-brainer." His "no-brainer" cost Lewiston taxpayers millions.

Gilbert pushed for putting the Colisée out to bid and, despite Paradis' objections, Gilbert secured the votes, eventually saving taxpayers more than $500,000 annually.

If the vision for Lewiston is an open-minded leader who values all input (Republican, Democrat, French, Somali, young or old) lower taxes, "no" to Casella and "yes" to private Colisée ownership, the only choice is Larry Gilbert.

Pushing the sale of the

Pushing the sale of the Colisee was akin to the import of arterial bleeding (something Mark Paradis supported as a sitting councilor). Selling off a piece of real estate and business venture that the taxpayers should never have been straddled with in the first place for roughly 17 cents on the dollar makes every bit of sense, considering we were bleeding 9 cents on capital investment every year, compounded - and now instead receiving tax revenue since it is in private hands. A negative ROI (Return on Investment) is not exactly what the citizens of Lewiston needed in this down economy - proper insight from an educated mayor who can understand such things. Therefore, we have been saving 500K every year the city has not managed the facility, regardless of the write off that took place at the time of sale. And, by the way, Le Roi, is exactly how Paradis was behaving during his power grabs and attempted power grabs of the Colisee and Casella deals, angrily and condescending.

Michael, who pushed the sale

Michael, who pushed the sale of the Colisee for pennies on the dollar to satisfy a campaign pledge. I think it was mayor Gilbert, the man who would be king. I will be voting for Marc Paradis.

Michael you left out

Michael you left out something. Gilbert wants more and more power, Paradis wants the cititzens to have the power. Seems clear to men that the right choice is Paradis.
