Police seek suspect in connection to Newport homicide
NEWPORT, Maine — State and Newport Police are investigating the shooting that took place inside a Newport home late Monday night as a homicide.
The victim is 76 year old Perley Goodrich Sr. Police continue to look for Goodrich's 45 year old son, Perley Goodrich Jr. for questioning in connection with the shooting.
The younger Goodrich was last seen leaving the home at 146 Rutland Road shortly before midnight. The younger Goodrich lives at the house with his parents.
Goodrich is described as 5-feet, 11-inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Police say Goodrich is believed to be on foot.
He is considered to be armed and dangerous and anyone having contact with Goodrich should call State Police in Orono at 1-800-432-7381 or 911 on a cell phone.

This is an important start to resurrecting the fishery in the Gulf of Maine. The article does not mention how corrupted the natural flows of the Kennebec River watershed are. Timing and amounts of flow volume has been greatly changed over the last 40 years. Storage lakes at the headwaters and ponds feeding the Kennebec are now keep full all spring, summer, and into late fall. Many ponds are not drawn down at all like they historically were. China Lake is a good example. This change in flows upsets migrational cues among other impacts. It is very easy to screen off turbines so the young salmon do not become minced by the blades and build working fishways. We need leadership in Augusta who want to restore a once great industry.
