Sabattus: Two contested races next week

SABATTUS — Residents will decide two contested races in Tuesday's election.

Two seats with three-year terms are open on the Board of Selectmen. The three candidates, according to Town Clerk Suzanne Adams: Michelle Ames, Ronda Fournier and Andre Marquis. None of the three have held the seat before.

Adams said Ames is currently chair of the Planning Board and Fournier has previously served on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee and Sabattus Rec Club.

Four people are running for two seats to become Sanitary/Water District trustees. The candidates: Connie Castonguay, Judy Cyr, Richard Lacombe and Roland St. Amand. Cyr and St. Amand are incumbents. Lacombe currently sits on the Planning Board, Adams said.

Those terms also last three years.

Running for the single seat for a three-year term as Regional School Unit 4 director: Dale Gamage. And running for the single seat for a one-year term: William Fessenden.

The Budget Committee has two three-year term vacancies and no candidates; the town is hoping for write-ins.

Voting will be held at the town office from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Sabattus is holding a toy and food drive at the same time.
