The only standard of truth

Published on Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 at 12:12 am | Last updated on Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 at 12:12 am 19 Comments

I have homosexual friends and do enjoy time with them, though I never bring up the subject. Per God's instructions, we are to love others as ourselves, though never to encourage sinful behavior.

We are to have compassion; and the church offers help for all temptations.

Homosexual temptation is the work of the devil, no different from men with lustful temptations for women at the office. Temptation itself is not sin. Giving in to it, however, creates a strong foothold for the devil, which will surely lead to greater temptations.

God's word is clear: Homosexuality is an abomination. The former cities of Sodom/Gomorrah lie beneath the Dead Sea today, a result of his anger.

The concept of homosexual marriage is extremely radical to the creator's plan. Because of it, there will be consequences.

God's word is the only standard of truth. Who are we, mere selfish humans, to change God's law? We think of ourselves by doing so, all for the sake of convenience and financial gain.

When our children petition the law to allow three wives, or mate their cousins, and hide their lusts behind "equality" and "discrimination," our nation will be in the midst of a morals free-fall from today. Sounds outrageous today, just as homosexual marriage did in the 1970s.

Marriage is a gift from God, not instituted by man.

Question 1 is about right and wrong, not equality.

I encourage others to join me in voting "yes" on Question 1 to preserve this sacred gift.

Bob Turgeon, Minot

Mr. Turgeon writes: "I have homosexual friends and do enjoy time with them, though I never bring up the subject."

The question is, after they read this letter will they enjoy spending time with you?

Anybody up for some Denny's?

Anybody up for some Denny's? I hear they'll only let you use the boys room if you order the "Two eggs under my-hammy". I don't care who you are, that's funny stuff right there. You've been a wonderful audience, I'll be here until Thursday, enjoy the buffet.

The parrot likes your stuff.

The parrot likes your stuff. Sez he'd rather be with you than me. No more fruit loops for him. Sugar makes him loopy. That was pretty funny stuff, BTW.

yes, My Dear Pirate. I used

yes, My Dear Pirate. I used to take the debate seriously, but now it's just circus time. With the likes of Rex and and freinds I cannot show my distaste for their anti-catholic rhetoric with the same hate, but rather with the fine art of sarcasm and humor. Your Parrot can visit this ol' cracker any day. And who knows, in another week, maybe you can put the word "butt" before your screen name.

Giddyup....now the bigots are blatant. Keep the names coming...we love it. It exposes the hypcrites for what they really are. They preach the living crap out of tolerance, but practice none, zero, zip, nada.

Am I the only one seeing

Am I the only one seeing that most of the Yes on 1 supporters are using god and their religion as an excuse?

Come on. I know I can't be the ONLY one.

I realize not all of the Yo1 supporters are terribly religious, but still...

No, I'ved brought up many

No, I'ved brought up many valid points, but you dummies keep dodging the questions. I'm sick of retyping them, so go look at past articles. This is why I have taken the stance of just making fun of the whole debachery. I went into UMF a liberal, and took economic classes where the teacher would teach one thing and preach about entitlements that negated the very laws of economics he was teaching. I questioned him, he got irrate and dodged the issue all together. I cut my long hair and realized the world was better without Kurt Cobain, and hence a conservative was born.

Red, you are certainly not

Red, you are certainly not the only one who noticed that lots of people are using religion for justification. It's that, gay bashing and use of the word "marriage".

Jojolou, you're post isn't complete. You forgot the sentence "What next a man and his dog?" Come on, you're slipping. You always end with that line.

Christians are becoming very

Christians are becoming very unpopular. The Bible said it would happen in this age. Wrong is being made to look right, and right is being made to look wrong. The Bible said it would happen in this age. Today's society, the state of government, people's attitudes toward God and the Bible, current weather patterns, children's attitudes, current human behavior, and many more things going on around us were all prophesied in the Bible (thousands of years ago) for this age we're living in right now. What an exciting time for those who have a love for the soverign and just God and for men's souls.

I agree with you Jami, but I

I agree with you Jami, but I don't think Christians are becoming unpopular. The gospel, and those who proclaim it, has never been very "popular". But you're right. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Exciting times indeed!!!

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." -- Jesus

John A. Chick

So the guy that gets so

So the guy that gets so angry that he throws a temper tantrum and murders entire cities full of people...we should listen to him?

How un-American of you to deny a fellow citizen their own pursuit of happiness Bob. Get over it. Come down off of your high horse. You'll be fine.
