Will destroy the nation

Sen. Harry Reid stated in an almost euphoric manner that the proposed U.S. health care plan would cost the nation $1.8 trillion. He acts as though a trillion dollars is simply a few million lumped together.

Allow me to put some scale on one trillion.

As we all know there are 60 seconds in one minute. A million seconds equates 11.5 days. A billion seconds equates to 31.7 years; and a trillion seconds is 31,700 years.

Now, think of that in terms of dollars and anyone can see why generations to come will be in debt forever if the national health care bill gets approved.

Congress should work on fixing the existing health care program while maintaining the great aspects already available. There is no need to create another government-run program that is destined to fail.

President Barack Obama's proposed national health care system would destroy the nation. As Nikita Khrushchev said years ago, "The United States will destroy itself from within."

Of course we're treated to the daily regurgitations of the Republi-cons and their constant cries that everything Obama and the Democrats do is wrong. You know who the Republi-cons are-the same folks who from 1994-2006 squandered the largest budget surplus and created the largest deficit. The same folks who did not pass a single bill support health care, patient rights or job creation, but passed plenty of tax breaks for the richest Americans. Did any of you common folk benefit from that? I sure didn't and I'm as common as it gets. How about the same folks who led us into a war predicated on lies, and the debt for which continues to climb, now at about $950 billion. The Bush administration assured the American people that the war would cost between $50-60 billon. Once again, Bush, and the Republi-cons, were as right as they were when they announce "Mission Accomplished" and "you're doing a heckuva job, Brownie." The Republi-cons are the ones who constantly preach "what's good for business is good for America" and deregulated everything, which opened the doors to businesses moving offshore and firing American workers. The Republi-cons are the ones who sat around and watched the economy tank and did NOTHING about it.

The Democrats have only held sway for about 10 months, and yet the Republi-cons, who took 11 years to drive this country into the ground, are complaining because the Democrats having cleaned up all of the Republi-con mess yet. And now we have talk of the Republi-cons possibly coming back to power next year. God, I hope not-we CAN'T AFFORD IT!

Obama does not have a degree in economics nor does he have any kind of health care degree. Yet he proclaims to know it all. Unemployment is 10.2% thanks to the porklus bill. Obama is a LIAR. He said the stimulus had to be passed to keep unemployment below 8%. What a joke. All our taxpayer money wasted on nothing. So what do you think he is going to do with health care? More lies from the liberal left president? This health care bill is a big piece of garbage. Over 2000 pages of crap. The government can't even run a flu clinic effectively so how do you think they will do with a health care plan? Haven't your heard GIL? All the liberals are heading to Canada and Cuba for their health care. That is what they want for the USA. The sheep are bleating to the tune of the cult of personality president.
If GWB were president now and the unemployment was 10.2% the liberals would have a meltdown. Notice how mum they are on the performance of their messiah.

"anyone who can afford to do so" That's one serious qualifier there. Maybe access is a problem?

. ...It is , Lil . Canadians aren't streaming over the border for health care here , either , because it sux . On the other hand , Americans routinely go to Canada for lasik eye surgery because it is cheaper and better . Drugs are cheaper , too . Go figger :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicko

It's true that lasik i sless expensive in Canada. The question is why is that? Lasik is not covered by Canada's social medicine. Lasik cost less in Canada because of Canadian laws about malpractice lawsuits. There are many things wrong with the American insurance industry. Most of those are because of rules made by state and federal government. The way to lower costs and improve health care is to review those rules and fix the flaws one at a time, not to create a new set of mandates.

Want to know with absolute certainty if legislation is bad? Look at the effective date. This bill will not go into effect until 2013 which is after he his second term election. I smell a rat. This bill is so bad he and his cronies are making damn sure they get reelected before we find out how bad this bill is for not providing healthcare and for wiping us out financially.

Health care is easy to fix but of course the feds make it difficult. It should not be manditory for medicare to pay first for those with insurance. I have insurance for life and when I reach 65 they say I have to have medicare and that is first payer. Why not change it so that my insurance pays first. I live in a state where only 1 doctor in 20 will accept medicare patients and that's if you are lucky. There are other ways too, but they don't listen to reason once they are in Washington.

It's good to see that you see the truth of this bill, It's about control.when congress passed SCHIP in the 90's I thought that was a good piece of legislation for the children. Now in this health Reform it's been remove, also in this Health care this bill will ration care when other provisions fail. I'm still reading it Health care is rationed in those foreign countries, some are having financial issue as I write, some have even shut down facilities because it cannot afford it. And yes Google is a good search engine to easily find the information.

How exactly are these plans paid for Lil? Wishes and fairy dust don't count. Use actual facts and show how you arrived at that false statement. I would very much like to see exactly where the money is coming from since we are already in debt and your messiahs proposal will cost, at conservative estimates (from the CBO) over a trillion in just 10 years. Show all work.

Don't forget, if the bill passes, the reform would not be available until 2013. That's like putting away a dollar a week for the next four years to save up for a new Jag. If there's going to be such a savings, why wouldn't it start a few month's after it passes? Oh, gotta go, my Chia-Obama is trying to pluck some seedlings off of my Chia-Taxpayer.

I opened this after seeing the title and expected to see a letter describing the efforts of Republicans, like Michelle Bachmann and her tea party idiots, to destroy the nation. Instead you are worried the providing health care to Americans will destroy the nation? Then explain the 35 other countries that rank ahead of the US in health care quality and how they have not destroyed themselves? Google is your friend - use it to read up on a topic that concerns you before sending in a letter like this that only makes you look like a Fox News viewer.

Any problem that can't be solved with taxcuts, republicans pretend doesn't exist.

You seriously buy in to the ridiculous ranking of the WHO that places this country 37th in health care? Then you have the audacity to proclaim the conservatives idiots? Riddle me this poorman, why does everyone, from heads of state to anyone who can afford to do so, come to this country for medical treatment? What country leads the world in innovation, in research? And what criteria does the WHO use for their ranking? They include such silly parameters as health care equity. How much faith do you have in something so simplistically stupid? Oops, forgot, you're a liberal, so of course you just accept what you are told by the Soros crowd and don't question it.
