Halloween walk, haunted hayride set for Saturday
DIXFIELD — Youngsters of all ages will have a chance to celebrate Halloween in style Saturday night thanks to the annual Halloween Walk and a haunted hayride at McGouldrick Park.
The Halloween Walk, sponsored by townspeople who raise money through donations from businesses and individuals, will run from 5 to 8 p.m. along Weld Street.
The street, along with several of the side streets that empty onto Weld Street, will be blocked off during the annual treat-or-treat time. An additional Dixfield police officer will be on duty to ensure safety, Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky said.
Homes with their lights on will hand out goodies to all who come to their doors. Past events have drawn scores of young people, along with many parents of toddlers and babies.
Up the street at McGouldrick Park, the senior class of Dirigo High School will offer a haunted hayride. All money raised will benefit Project Graduation.
All-terrain vehicles will provide rides to various stopping points where ghosts, ghouls and other scary creatures will provide the spookiness. That event runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
This is the second year a Dirigo High School senior class has put on the event, said class member Emily Luce.
Admission is $3 for students of all ages; $4 for adults.
