Flu shots available in Mt. Blue Regional School District

FARMINGTON — Flu shot clinics for students in Mt. Blue Regional School District will be held next week, Assistant Superintendent Susan Pratt said.

Both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines will be administered and students can receive one or both vaccines. One is a nasal spray and the other a shot. Organizers hope to have enough of the H1N1, she said.

Parents who want their children vaccinated should call the school where their children are enrolled to make an appointment.

The clinics take place throughout the week in district towns:

• New Sharon, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Nov. 2, Cape Cod Hill School, Monday. 

No clinics are scheduled for Tuesday due to elections, she said.

• Wilton, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, Academy Hill School, for students on the Wilton side of the district including Academy Hill and Cushing School students.

• Farmington, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, Cascade Brook School, for younger students on the Farmington side of the district including those from Industry and New Vineyard.

Clinics for older students will be held during school hours. A permission slip is needed.

A clinic for students at Mt. Blue Middle School will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Middle School.

Students at Mt. Blue High School may receive flu shots from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the high school, Pratt said.

"There has been a tremendous outpouring of volunteers from the medical community to help with the clinics," she said. "It's been a collaborative effort."

The clinics have been undertaken with volunteer help from several school teachers, NorthStar ambulance personnel at each site and from Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.
