Sleepy teen causes car crash

LISBON — A Lisbon Falls teen apparently fell asleep while driving on Route 196 Monday morning, causing his car to hit an oncoming one, police said. There were no injuries.

Police officer Shawn Kelly said Nathan Hagelin, 19, was driving to college in Lewiston when he apparently nodded off and drifted into the oncoming lane. His car struck that of Abulle Abdullahi, 51, of Lewiston, he said.

No charges were filed. Damage was estimated at $2,500 each to Hagelin's 2001 Nissan Sentra and to Abdullahi's 1996 Nissan Maxima in the 7:26 a.m. crash.
