AUBURN — Leo J. Couture, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Hospice House. He was a resident of Route 232 in Rumford.

He was born in Rumford, Oct. 2, 1935, a son of Michael and Alexinda Couture. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1954. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford.

He was a member of LeParesseux Snowshoe Club and was a member of the Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, where he served as president and was secretary since 1985. He worked for O'Neils Tobacco and also worked for the Rumford Falls Times doing write-ups and photography.

"He was one great person to all who knew him, a great friend"... Roseanna Ross, close friend.

Survivors include nephews, Neri Cormier and his wife, Jeannette, of Dixfield, Edgar Cormier and his wife, Dixie, of San Antonio, Texas, James Cormier and his wife, Nancy, of Michigan, and Billy Carey and his wife, Beverly, of Rumford.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Rosilda Cormier and Jeannette Carey; and a nephew, Norman Carey.
