Two charged in Lovell threatening incident

LOVELL — Two men were charged with making threats Wednesday after police were called to a disturbance on Foxboro Road, Maine State Police said.

Craig Richardson, 41, of Lovell was taken into custody after he barricaded himself in a house at 276 Foxboro Road. Richardson was charged with assault and criminal threatening. Also arrested was 23-year-old Daniel Bokuniewicz of Brownfield on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Bokuniewicz remained at the Oxford County Jail on Thursday, while Richardson was not listed as an inmate there.

According to a statement from Lt. Walter Grzyb of the state police, state troopers and deputies from the Oxford County Sheriff's Office responded to the house at about 6:10 p.m. after receiving a call from a woman who said several men and one other woman were involved in a verbal and physical argument there.

The woman told police that threats were being made with firearms and an ax. She said she was being held against her will, but later told police that she and everyone else at the home, except for Richardson, had left.

Five troopers and three deputies responded to the scene, along with officers from the Fryeburg Police Department and personnel from Fryeburg Rescue. Grzyb said that police set up a perimeter around the house after Richardson threatened to shoot anyone that approached the home. Richardson was later persuaded to leave the house by a State Police dispatcher who called him.

The road was closed for about 90 minutes during the incident. Police responded to the house earlier in the day for a separate disturbance involving the same people, but no arrests were made then.
