1936 - 2009
SABATTUS — Irene M. Lavoie, 73, a resident of Pauline Street, Sabattus passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, at her residence.
She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 2, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Yvonne (Cote) Lavoie.
She was educated in Lewiston schools and had worked in the local shoe industry until her retirement in 1992 so that she could care for her mother until her passing in 1996.
She became a Jehovah Witness on June 17, 1967, where she had devoted her weekends to the public ministry to help people with answers to their Bible questions, and answered people's questions as why we die, and what is the hope for the dead. She believed strongly in an earthly resurrection, where death and suffering would be no more. (Job Chapter 14 verses 14-16).
Survivors include three brothers, Marcel Lavoie of Florida, Roland Lavoie of Lewiston and Leonel Lavoie of Lisbon Falls; five sisters, Pearl Lavoie of Boston, Cecile Lavoie of Lewiston, Jeannine Boccia of Florida, and Rita and Annette Lavoie, with whom she resided of Sabattus.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by six siblings, Armand and Raymond Lavoie, Mignonne Rideout, Carmen, Norman, and Claudette Lavoie.
