Vets Day prayer service Wednesday
LEWISTON — Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St., will host a community-wide Veterans Day Prayer Service on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
This is the sixth year that Holy Family has offered the "We Remember and Give Thanks" evening of refection, honoring those who have served and those who are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is community service and all are invited, no matter what their denomination or faith affiliation.
Monsignor Marc Caron, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish, will be joined by the Rev. Lissa Bradford, chaplain at The Hospice House and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice; the Rev. Bill Blaine-Wallace, multifaith chaplain for Bates College will concelebrate.
Music for the occasion will be a combined effort of the choir members from Lewiston and Auburn churches. Henry St. Pierre will direct the choir. Dr. Paul G. Caron will accompany the combined group. He will perform his own arrangement of military songs that honor the branches of our military as the flags for each are presented.
All active and inactive members of the military and their families are invited to attend. Those active soldiers living in the area or who are home on leave are urged to attend in uniform. Veteran and military spokespersons from the Maine Military and Community Network will be available for information and discussion after the service.
