We're better than this

Having written a previous letter expressing my dismay about the deteriorating level of our national dialogue about important issues such as health care reform and other policy initiatives, we have now descended to a new level of moral degradation.

At a Nov. 5 protest rally on Capitol Hill initiated by U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., Republican leader John Boehner called the proposed health care reform bill "the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen in the 19 years I've been in Washington."

On a Nov. 5 MSNBC program reporting about that rally, one could see a large poster prominently displayed by the participants with the message, "National Socialist Healthcare, Dachau, Germany, 1945," printed over a large photo of a heap of emaciated concentration camp victims murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

As a teenager in Nazi Germany, I witnessed, at the end of World War II, a long train with open-door cattle cars full of emaciated, hollow-eyed concentration camp inmates crossing the road.

I never thought I would live to see the day when photos and depictions of such horrific Holocaust scenes would be used for blatant political purposes in the United States of America.

We should be better than that.

take it as you want... i

take it as you want... i think that the letter that klaus wrote and what i am talking about is how cruel and heartless people are when they say the things they do (i.e.: bury obama with kennedy) (i mean really-its like saying bury bush with sadaam or bury someone with someone-its just something i wouldn't say... no matter who someone is or what they have done in their life-their LIFE is still valuable to someone). i don't really think anyone takes into consideration that people have families, loved ones, spouses, friends, or may have had to endure tragic, horrific events in life such as Klaus-that others say the things they do that are insensitive, inhumane, and downright disgusting while being insulting to the people who had to go through those things. For example-for me-I get pretty affected by people who make remarks or comments and jokes about sexual assault/molestation. Since I am a survivor-I don't take those comments too lightly... there is NOTHING funny about it. Jokes and sarcasm affects those who are in that situation or been there... for others to be sarcastic or make remarks with no disregard to that person's feeling-rather distasteful.

Ya, there is nothing worse

Ya, there is nothing worse then people who disagree with the president's policies having rallies. Especially since they are so under educated that they have the audacity to think that they know what is best for them. Your right queenhoneybee, we shouldn't allow THOSE people to have their say. We should prevent anyone who disagrees with the government from ever speaking or assembling. Perhaps they should be arrested, imprisoned, and seperated from the rest of society. Unless of course they are saying what you agree with, right?
I do believe that we do have the right of free speech, and the right to assemble. Or are those only rights if you agree with the participants?

I am sorry, Mr.Klaus. I had family in Germany, too. Emotions are running too high for rational thought and it's all about shock value. By using the atrocities of the holocaust for public shock for an issue lessens the issue and is disrespectful to the memories of those who are gone.

I hope that the majority of

I hope that the majority of Americans will wake up and stop Obamas train to socialism.
We were warned before he was elected , that he would move this way. Thank God we still have freedom of speech, where we can hear whats really going on. More and more people are waking up, as Obama and the Democratic controlled House & Senate agenda
is being exposed. As more people get away from the mainstream medias spin, and hear
other views, you'll see Obama, Peolsi, and Reids poll numbers plumit

Much of the behavior seen at

Much of the behavior seen at the DC "tea party" was disgusting, and I, too, want to apologize for those in my country who have so little decency and regard for others.

If it was anything like

If it was anything like this-sad to say, it really doesn't surprise me. People are not educated enough... these are dumbbleeps at the very least... sorta reminds me of some people... I always thought that maybe that it was always ME that shapes and portray me, but I'm afraid that others may view America in a very negative light if we continue to have people say the things that they do and have no clue what they are talking about. What I am posting is the 9/12 DC tea party... these idiots have 'bury obama with kennedy' who cruel and heartless is that!?! this is america... we can do better. we can do better for Klaus and our neighbors. Have some sympathy and heart and compassion!

Klaus-on behalf of some people in America, I would like to apologize for their actions. Please don't let it ruin your view on why you may have came here or whatever. NOT all people in America agree hon.
