Exercise our rights

Published on Saturday, Nov 14, 2009 at 12:12 am | Last updated on Saturday, Nov 14, 2009 at 12:12 am 6 Comments

In light of the many things that have been going on in this country and state, politically, I have a few thoughts to share that I believe are relevant and necessary, while I still have the right to speak freely as an American.

I firmly believe that when elected officials no longer respect and carry out the intent of the majority of the people who elected them, they should then be held accountable to a process of recall and impeachment.

I also believe that identification and residency verification needs to be in place at every election level when people legally go to the polls to vote. All candidates should show proof of their birth places as well, prior to running for any office, from the bottom to the top.

There are far too many career politicians in office today who are not carrying out a government of the people, by the people and for the people. In light of that national fact, term limits need to be in place to protect the citizens of the country.

We are where we are today because our leaders are monopolizing people's weaknesses, not their strengths. It is time for people to be strong and exercise our rights as a free people, under God, for future generations. That's what makes America the "land of the free and the home of the brave" before it's too late.

Check out the Maine

Check out the Maine government. How many times have we had an issue or a tax jammed through because it was in our best interest, then had to recall it and have a vote? You are the one focused on a "birth certificate" and missed the point of the letter. Lets increase welfare spending instead of spending on job training, rehabilitation, industry investment/job creation. Cradle to the grave support is a great idea, but not sustainable, especially with an aging population with fewer people to replace them. Increasing the length of unemployment benefits will help many today, but not forever. Dumping trillions of dollars into failing companies and programs aren't going to make people buy overpriced bad products, nor increase or stabalize the workforce.

As a matter of fact Ron,

As a matter of fact Ron, they did not ask me for verification of my 2 doctorate degrees that are hanging on the wall in my office.

If you would like to see them, come by Hope Haven Gospel Mission. I will be available on December 7th, and if you would like my secretary could also give you a tour.

It s my prayer Ron that you would have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!

Hi Mark, Read the entire

Hi Mark,

Read the entire letter that I wrote. It's not just about the "Birth Certificate". The "Birth Certificate" is only part of what I was taliking about!

It's not about just one person, it is about the entire process without any political party partiality. Tansparency, honesty and accountability is a standard that needs to adherred to consistantly; not when it is convenient or profitable to any political candidate or voting member.

Where was he when bush was

Where was he when bush was in office? Thats the kind of elected official that needed to be booted out of office. I am assuming 'the intent of the majority of the people who elected them' could only mean ONE thing.
