A crew from River Valley Home Improvement peel three layers of asphalt roofing off the Farmington Historical Society's Titcomb House at Academy and High streets on Tuesday. The layers reveal what's probably the original cedar shake roofing,  worker Dale Bowen said. The crew is reroofing the house and garage. The wooden birdhouse that was atop the garage was taken down to be refurnished by the society, he said. On the roof are Rusty Metze of Carthage, Dale Bowen Jr. and Dale Bowen of Mexico, who have spent eight days working on the roof and expect to spend several more.
