Norman Works, left, and Kevin Fitzpatrick, full-time students and veterans, unfold the flag in front of Central Maine Community College in Auburn on Tuesday. In honor of all veterans and those serving in the military, many students and faculty gathered around the flagpole for the brief ceremony. CMCC has at least 85 military veteran students among the college's population of 2,700. The number of veterans at the college has grown in recent years, said Roger G. Philippon, dean of Planning and Public Affairs. Earlier this fall CMCC was recognized as one of the country's most military friendly schools by G.I. Jobs, which lists the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace veterans.
