Girl hit by car

LEWISTON — A 10-year-old local girl collided with a car Wednesday morning and was taken to the hospital with an apparent leg injury, police said.

United Ambulance personnel load a 10-year-old girl into an ambulance after she was struck by a car on Knox Street in Lewiston Wednesday morning. The girl was conscious and appeared to have injured her leg.

The girl, Stephanie Cornish, who lives in the area, was on a scooter that glided onto Knox Street from an adjacent driveway when the accident happened, police said.

The driver of the car, Megan Palmer, 24, of Rumford said she was "coming down the street and (the girl) came flying out of the driveway in front of my car."

Police said no citations were issued.
