Never mind what's in the forecast. The crew at Sunday River is so confident about their skiing conditions, they are keeping their slopes open every day.
Starting Saturday, the Newry resort will stay open seven days a week. That announcement comes on the heels of the official opening Oct. 14, the earliest in a decade.
The resort has been open weekends, operating four trails accessible by one chairlift. For the coming weekend, resort officials said, skiers and riders can expect the same amount of open terrain and the likelihood of terrain expansions as the resort continues to make more snow.
Saturday also kicks off Sunday River's annual Tin Mountain Round Up weekend. Skiers and riders are encouraged to bring in three or more cans of food for the Andover Food Bank. Doing so qualifies guests for a $25 lift ticket.
Weather forecasters are calling for rain showers this weekend.
