International band has roots in Farmington

FARMINGTON — The Young Republic, an internationally known band that includes a musician with Farmington roots, will perform at the University of Maine at Farmington's student center on Tuesday, Dec. 1. The show is free and open to the public.

The Young Republic has performed throughout the United Kingdom and is now touring the Midwest and East Coast to promote its new album, "Balletesque," out on End of the Road records.

Founding members of the band, including Nate Underkuffler from Farmington, met at Berklee College of Music six years ago and now base themselves in Nashville, where they record and play regularly. The band will also play at the Rack at Sugarloaf on Dec. 2 and at the Northstar Music Café in Portland on Dec. 4, before traveling on to shows in New York City.

The show at the UMF Student Center will begin at 8 p.m.
