ORONO — Maine football coach Jack Cosgrove, who left Saturday's 41-17 win over Rhode Island in the third quarter, is back with the team, according to a statement released Sunday by the University.

Cosgrove left the game in the third quarter as a precautionary measure after experiencing symptoms that included shotness of breath and chest pain. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center where he underwent tests overnight. he was released Sunday.

CMCC falls to Apprentice

AUBURN — With the final five seconds winding down, Tyler Smithgall's 3-point attempt from the left corner bounced off the rim as Apprentice School of Newport News, Virginia escaped with a 53-50 United States Small College Conference victory over Central Maine Community College on Sunday.

Full-court pressure kept Apprentice off balance and forced enough turnovers to help the Mustangs (2-2) come back from a 13-point, second-half deficit while allowing just 18. The Mustangs also used timely fouls down the stretch sending the Shipbuilders to the line where they converted just three of eight opportunities.

Smithgall, who scored 10 points in the closing frame, finished with 15 points, sharing the game-high scoring total with Eric Joe of the Shipbuilders (3-0). Cam Angell buried four treys for 12 points, Matt Sceviour added eight, including a pair of 3s, and Eric Goodwin tallied seven.

Tevin Andrews canned 10 points for the Shipbuilders while Isaih Harrison added eight.
