LISBON — The case of the driver involved in a police chase in downtown Lisbon Falls early Sunday morning will be taken to the Androscoggin County grand jury on Dec. 8 by the District Attorney's office, according to Lisbon Lt. Dan Michel.
Michel said it is anticipated that 42-year-old Willard Garland will be indicted and face the charges in Maine before being extradited to Florida on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Garland was arrested by Sgt. Scott Stewart at 2:45 a.m. Sunday on eight charges — eluding a police officer, operating under the influence, aggravated criminal mischief, carrying a concealed weapon, burglary, attachment of false plates, refusing to submit to arrest and operating without a license.
He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants from Brunswick Police Department dating back to 1996, one for operating under the influence and the other for operating without a license, according to Brunswick Lt. Mark Waltz.
