NEW SHARON — A New Sharon man was charged Monday after police say he assaulted a woman and fled into the woods.
Jeromy Merchant, 29, was arrested on charges of domestic assault, domestic terrorizing and domestic criminal mischief, Franklin County Sheriff's Lt. Niles Yeaton said. Merchant has a felony conviction, he said.
Deputy Heidi Gould was assisted in the investigation by Deputy Chris Chase and his tracking dog, Detective David St. Laurent, Yeaton and Maine State Police Trooper Randy Keaten.
Keaten arrested Merchant on Weeks Mills Road, Yeaton said.
Merchant was being held on $1,500 cash bail at the Franklin County jail in Farmington, he said.
