WOODSTOCK — Fire destroyed a log-sided home on Route 232 on Friday night.
The home was owned by Don Lawrence of Bryant Pond and rented by a couple, whose identities were not immediately available, fire Chief Geff Inman said early Saturday morning from the scene. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries, he said.
Firefighters from Woodstock, West Paris, Greenwood and Bethel arrived to find the approximately 30- by 50-foot home engulfed in flames, Inman said. They were unable to save the building.
"Water is always an issue," he said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation and state Fire Marshal Dan Young was interviewing the renters at the scene early Saturday morning, Inman said.
Tri-Town Rescue and PACE ambulance service were also at the scene.
