Town to fix Otisfield Cove Road

OTISFIELD — The town will fix an erosion problem on the Otisfield Cove Road, road commissioner Richard Bean Sr. told selectmen Wednesday.

However, he said the erosion there is constantly recurring due to weather conditions.

“There's nothing you can do to cure that problem,” he said. The town can put down gravel and use other means to address the situation, he added.

The road is off Route 121 opposite the East Otisfield Fire Station.

Selectman Rick Micklon said the Thompson Lake Environmental Association had offered to look into erosion problem. The association, along with other partners, has received a two-year federal grant and will begin work this spring to repair up to 96 erosion sites identified in the Otisfield section of the Thompson Lake watershed.

Go Figure

"There's nothing you can do to cure that problem." My understanding from Jeff Stern, the consultant and environmental specialist working with TLEA, has made suggestions on how to fix erosion issues on certain town roads. But it requires willingness to talk and listen to each other, and work together in a spirit of cooperation. I say the Road Commissioner should work with TLEA on the issue.
