On Feb. 27, I attended the Androscoggin County Republican caucus. All of the speeches were inspiring but one candidate stood out: Les Otten.
It wasn’t his speech that gained my support, it was the time he spent talking to my 16-year-old son, who can’t even vote yet. Otten was not too busy to sit and talk with him, having nothing to gain politically by doing so. In fact, he could have used his time cozying up to voters who supported other candidates.
But Otten said at the caucus, “Maine’s No. 1 export can no longer be its children.” He is a statesman who cares about Maine’s future, believing my son to be a key ingredient in his plans for Maine.
By not pandering for votes, he’s earned my vote. Les Otten should be the next governor of Maine, for my children and yours.
Tim Lajoie, Lewiston

Pander
The best vote panderers are the ones who don't appear to be pandering for votes. He got yours, didn't he?

Somehow tron could not post without the demeaning and incorrect terminology of those who prefer conservative ideals. We shouldn't have expected any less from someone who needs democrats in power to keep his gravy train of free state and federal benefits intact.

Actually it is behavior I learned when I was a Redmeat Reactionery Baby-killin' Son of Uncle-Sam.
Now you ought to 'Man-Up' and register under your real name as Tron and I have rather than a Puzzy-Psuedonym - Like actually taking personal responsibility for what you write.
Your failure to do so shows us what the modern so-called 'Conservatives' are really made of - Smoke and Mirrors.

come on Veritas, that type of innuendo has no place here, not even as a joke. That is something you've learned from the right wing wackos, don't try to emulate their bad behavior. You're one of the good guys, remember.

My Bad - I couldn't resist it.
The manner in which the author penned the letter begged my smart-azz remark.
For the record, there is absolutely nothing which I'm aware of to lead one to suspect Mr. Otten of any such behavior, and I'd zinged almost any politican (perhaps except the "Chosen -Annointed One") with this type of lead in..... LOL
But I'll clean it up......

veritas, you are a pos...I wanted to respond to your filth yesterday but was absolutely seething...and then you deleted it. Irrelevant by the way, you have no I idea how many people read it before you did. But I have a question for you...Did it ever occur to you what Mr. Lajoie may have thought about your implication of Les Otten's reasons for talking to his son? It wasn't just Otten in this, you know. You dragged this guy's son into the image you tried to give people who read your ignorant post. Would you have had the stones to make that comment to his face? I doubt it...I hope whoever posted that tracks you down and smacks you in the face. What a classless, rude, and ignorant thing to say. I know if it were my son in your insinuation, that's what I would want to do. If you had any real class, or remorse, you would direct your apology to the guy who posted it. But you won't because you don't... The SJ should pull your posting rights...
