Normand A. Dostie


1928 – 2015

WINTHROP — Normand A. Dostie, 87, of Richmond Mills Road in Fayette, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 21, at the Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 6, 1928, a son of Albert and Violet (Nadeau) Dostie. Norm was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of the community. He worked many years for the Lewiston school system as a school custodian until his retirement. He was married to the former Gaetane Asselin, who predeceased him. He was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Norm was a very avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially bass fishing. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. With regard to bass fishing and playing cribbage, Norm participated in, and won, many tournaments over the years and had the trophies to show for it. He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who will be missed.

He leaves behind three daughters, Therese Thibodeau and husband, Tom, of Fayette, Denise Koch of Lewiston and Monique Raymond and husband, Richard, of Idaho; four sons, Paul Dostie and wife, Faith, of North Dakota, David Dostie and Daniel Dostie, both of Turner, and Guy Dostie of Lewiston; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Norm was predeceased by his wife, Gaetan; and five brothers and sisters.
