Brownfield father dies in crash
BROWNFIELD – Maine State Police say a 48-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon when a car being driven by his teenage son struck a tree in Brownfield.
John Freeman of Brownfield died after being flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Trooper Lucas Hare said the 1980 Volvo was being driven by Freeman’s 17-year-old son, Robert, who had obtained his driver’s license permit last Friday. The father was the passenger.
Hare said Robert lost control of the car on a curve on Route 113, and the vehicle struck a tree on the passenger’s side of the car. Both were using their seat belts.
The crash was reported at 4:25 p.m.
