Oncologist joins hospital service


FARMINGTON – Dr. Juergen Bertram, an oncologist, has joined Franklin Memorial Hospital’s oncology specialty services. He provides cancer care at the hospital two days a week.

Bertram also has been appointed to the Cancer Center medical staff at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he will be practicing with Hematology-Oncology Associates, 12 High St., Lewiston, a CMMC-affiliated physician practice.

He was born in Germany and received his doctor of medicine from the Universities of Marburg and Giessen, Germany. He completed his internship and residency at Columbia University in New York City and at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Bertram completed his fellowship in medical oncology and hematologic malignancies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Most recently, he practiced in the hospital-based cancer center at Three Rivers North Campus, in Poplar Bluff, Mich. While there, he also provided oncology specialty services at a satellite location, as he is doing now at Franklin Memorial Hospital. He has also been an associate professor of medicine and oncology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, since 1981.

Bertram is certified in internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

He lives in Monmouth with his wife, who is an oncology nurse.
