Opening Friday at Public Theatre

When Elizabeth Peavey’s mother passes away, she is faced with figuring out what to do with her mother’s “stuff.” And so begins a funny and poignant journey as she sorts through the contents and memories of a life with and without her mother in “My Mother’s Clothes are Not My Mother,” opening at 7:30 p.m., tonight at The Public Theatre in Lewiston. Winner of the 2013 Maine Literary Award for Best Drama, The Public Theatre has collaborated with Peavey on a new version of this story that has played to sold-out crowds and been performed to standing ovations for the past six years. Remaining performances at Nov. 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., and a Saturday matinee at 3 p.m., Nov. 18. A post-show discussion with Peavey and Director Janet Mitchko will follow the Sunday matinee performances.
