Ward said an Oxford police officer attempted to pull Niemi over on Gore Road near the Otisfield town line Wednesday night after discovering his license was suspended.

“The driver failed to stop and the Oxford police officer made pursuit,” Ward said.

Niemi led police on a short chase before crashing his Toyota Tundra truck into woods off Gore Road and fleeing, Ward said.

“Trooper Adam Fillebrown and his dog, Aros, attempted to track him from the scene of the accident, but they were unable to track him down,” Ward said. “This morning, we looked at his most recent address and were able to track him down there.”

Niemi remained at the Oxford County Jail in Paris on Thursday night with no bail allowed.
