Oxford crash victim remains hospitalized

OXFORD — Police said a Westbrook man remained hospitalized Tuesday with serious head injuries suffered Monday afternoon in a collision on Route 26.

Andrew Tremblay, 29, was being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Oxford police Sgt. Alan Coffin said.

Tremblay’s passenger, Anna Berthiaume, 24, of Brewer, was treated for a minor head injury at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and released Monday evening, Coffin said.

Tremblay’s 2013 Kia sedan and a tow truck driven by William Penfold of Oxford collided as Tremblay turned off Oxford Street on to Route 26 and Penfold headed north on Route 26, the sergeant said.

Penfold was not hurt, he said.

Coffin said the cause of the accident has not been determined and he is waiting for full results of the reconstruction conducted by Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Dailey.
