OXFORD – The Oxford Ice Rink hopes to open this Saturday, town officials said at Thursday’s selectmen’s meeting.
Pam Lovely, chairwoman of the recreation committee, said the town has tried to make ice all winter at the undercover rink next to the recreation center on King Street.
“We’re getting there now, and adding water quite often,” Lovely said.
The rink will be open seven days a week from dawn to 10 p.m., she said, for Oxford residents only. Because of the interest in hockey, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 4 to 10 p.m. are designated exclusively for that sport, she said.
The rink will be lit daily from dusk to 10 p.m.
At one end of the covered 40- by 100-foot rink will be three picnic tables for spectators and for skaters to change foot gear.
