Paione’s 2-run double rescues Eddies

TOPSHAM — Melissa Paione smashed a two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift Edward Little to a 4-3 victory over Mt. Ararat in KVAC softball action Wednesday.

Paione drove in Emily Johnson for the game-winner after Johnson reached on a single. Megan Hussar led the Red Eddies (3-1) with two hits, while Kirsten Prue belted an RBI double. Miranda Martin struck out seven and walked two to notch the win.

The Eagles (2-2) were paced by Miranda Riendeau with four hits, while Meagan Carr was tagged with the loss.

Mt. Ararat 10, EL 1
TOPSHAM — Nick Kerkos scattered six hits and drew adequate run support as Mt. Ararat raced away to a 10-1 romp over Edward Little in KVAC baseball matchup Wednesday.

Ryan Grunn led Mt. Ararat’s offensive efforts with four hits and one RBI, while Torrey Charnock belted a pair of hits and drove in two runs. Alden Tomay also contributed with two hits and one RBI in a well-balanced attack.

Logan Rossignol belted a double for the Red Eddies (0-4) but was left stranded. Cory Moholland led the squad with two hits in the contest.
