GARDINER – Jarrid Palmer erupted for 29 points and Lewiston avenged a loss earlier in the KVAC campaign with a 63-57 victory over Gardiner.
Abdinassir Abdi added 14 points for the Blue Devils (3-9). Lewiston used a 20-8 gain in the second quarter to open up a 28-22 halftime advantage.
University of Maine-bound senior Sean McNally fouled out late in the game after scoring a team-high 21 points for Gardiner.
Dirigo 72, Telstar 17
BETHEL – Mike Holmquist led a balanced attack with 17 points as Dirigo cruised to a 72-17 MVC boys’ basketball win over Telstar Friday night.
Holmquist also turned in five steals as the Cougars (11-0) opened up a 59-10 lead after three quarters. Josh Daley added 11 points. Spencer Berry and Colby Knapp each popped in 10.
Ryan Kimball was the high scorer for the Rebels (4-8) with six points.
St. Dom’s 48, Fryeburg 45
AUBURN – Joe Bonneau scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter, and St. Dom’s pulled off a crucial defensive stop in the final minute of regulation to wrap up a 48-45 WMC win over Class B Fryeburg.
Billy Colasante added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Class C Saints (9-2). St. Dom’s has won nine straight games.
Aaron Kasprak led the Raiders (2-8) with 14 points.
Brunswick 57, Oxford Hills 49
BRUNSWICK – Senior center Travis O’Dell led the way for the Dragons as Brunswick snapped up a 57-49 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Dragons (6-5) played with consistency throughout the first half, taking a 32-28 halftime lead before opening things up in the third quarter on a 15-8 run.
Junior forward Taurean Easter contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort.
Sophomore guard Josh Childs had an outstanding performance for the Vikings (4-7). He scored 26 points, 13 in the first quarter.
Mountain Valley 59, Georges Valley 36
THOMASTON – Andy Shorey dropped in 22 points and Owen Jones connected for 13 as Mountain Valley cruised to a 59-36 win over Georges Valley in boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Falcons (11-1) led 46-34 after three quarters and put the game away with a 13-2 margin in the final stanza.
Charlie Johanson was the lone double-digit scorer for the Buccaneers (8-4) with 10 points.
Traip 59, G-NG 49
NEW GLOUCESTER – Trevor Higgins netted 21 points to lead Traip to a 59-49 boys’ basketball win over Gray-New Gloucester Friday.
The Rangers (8-4) forced 22 turnovers and led most of the second half in capturing the win. Andre Plummer added 14 points and Tyler Metevier 12 for the visitors.
Evan Kenney was the leading scorer for the Patriots (3-9) with 15 while Billy Googins had 11.
Hebron 3, Wyoming Seminary 2
HEBRON – Matt St. Pierre scored at 2:01 of overtime to hand Hebron a 3-2 hockey victory over Wyoming Seminary.
Kyle Tobin and Costa Tsitouras scored in a 64-second span of the second period for the Lumberjacks (14-5). Tobin’s was a power-play strike. Jon Glant made 20 saves for Hebron.
