NORWAY – The last in a series of five parent/child workshops was held at the Norway Memorial Library.

The workshops are a part of the new Family Place Library program that was developed during the past winter through a grant from the Sandy River Foundation.

Toddlers and their parents gathered each week to play together and to learn strategies for healthy child development from local professionals. Local professionals who participated were Wendy Pollack, University of Maine Cooperative Extension; Dareth Law, Occupational Therapy of Norway; Shirli Allen-Heald, the Growing Place of Norway; and Michael Davis, Child Development Services.

New parenting materials have also been added to the Children’s Department collection. Plans are to repeat the series of five workshops in the fall.

The Family Place Library is a national program that operates in 200 communities in 25 states.

The Norway library is one of the first of three libraries in Maine to add the Family Place Library to its Children’s Department. For more information, call Karen at 743-5308.
