LEWISTON — Paul J. Woods Jr., 81, of Osgood Ave., Mexico passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Farmington on Feb. 12, 1933, a son of Paul J. and Isobel M. (Sawyer) Woods. Following the unexpected death of his father, Paul, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Reuben Harris.
Paul attended Wilton Schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for 36 years with the Oxford Paper Company.
Paul was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Knights of Khorassan Ali Baba Temple No. 68 of Auburn.
He was a certified auctioneer and received his training at Reisch World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. A favorite time in his life was when he was buying or selling cattle throughout the New England states.
He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and was an avid supporter of all Mountain Valley sporting events. Paul loved wintering in Ormond Beach, Fla., with his wife, Judy.
Surviving are his two sons, Paul J. Woods III and wife, Diane, of Livermore and Stephen A. Woods and wife, Linda, of Rumford; seven brothers, Bernard Woods, Jerry Woods, Douglas Woods, Richard Woods, Robert Woods, Bruce Harris and Vincent Harris; two sisters, Gloria Mayo and Linda Clark; nine grandchildren, Angela, Lindsay, Gregory, Audra, Michelle, Nathan, Nicholas, Conner and Sydney; and seven great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Morgan, Jayson, Brielle, Levi, Kai, and Jackson.
He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Hazel (Zinck) Woods in 1967; his second wife, Judy (Buotte) Woods in 2010; and a brother, David Woods.
