Paul N. Ouellette

LEWISTON – Paul N. Ouellette, 58, of 42 Tailwind Court, Auburn, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, surrounded by family at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 11, 1948, the son of Norman G. and Louise (Croteau) Ouellette. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of the Edward Little High School, Class of 1966.

His passion for cooking led him to a career in the restaurant industry having owned and managed in various capacities, and several local eateries. In earlier years, he owned and operated Rita’s Variety on Lincoln Street, as well as Daisy’s and Shortstop. He was also employed at Mac’s Grill in Auburn. Most recently he returned to the Poland Spring Inn, after having worked with them years earlier for approximately a decade, as the manager of their Club House Restaurant.

He had a large circle of friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He enjoyed cooking for and sharing time with his family, especially during the holidays. Apart from creating delicious meals, he also enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing and boating.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Kimberley Ouellette of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his mother; a brother, Daniel Ouellette, and wife, Debra, of Poland; two sisters, Joyce Campbell and Linda Holden, both of Auburn; nieces, Cheryl Mercier of Sydney, Lori Coro-Douglas of Gorham, Olivia Ouellette of Poland and Danielle and Nicole Ouellette, of Auburn; a nephew, Steven Ouellette of Auburn; and several close cousins.

He was predeceased by his father; and two brothers-in-law, John Campbell and Larry Holden.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Central Maine Medical Center for taking excellent care of Paul and his family during this difficult time.
