AUBURN — Pauline Farrar Buckingham, 89, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday Aug. 18, at the Hospice House in Auburn, following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford on April 8, 1926, a daughter of Frank M. and Amy (Chayer) Farrar. Pauline was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

She was employed for several years with Diamond Match Co. She then went to work at Rumford Hospital in the housekeeping department, a job she truly loved because she got to socialize with people each day.

Pauline was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and one of the oldest members of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rumford Senior Citizens, the Peru Bible Study Group and the local card club.

Pauline loved all animals, especially cats and dogs. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and playing beano.

Pauline knitted and donated many baby articles, sweaters and Christmas stockings.

She was very fond of her nephew, Briant Hunt, who was her go-to person when she needed anything at all.

Pauline is survived by her son, Paul Buckingham of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Marion Cooper of Michigan, Patricia Hunt and husband, James, of Peru, and Sharon Philbrook of Greene; four grandchildren, Tara Eustis and companion, Toby Beal, Jenny Ames, Mike Ames and Brian Quimby; four great-grandchildren, Teya Eustis, Trevor Eustis, Mackenzie Ames and Logan Ames; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ralph E. Buckingham; daughter, Georgette; sister, Frances Graham; and brother, George Farrar.
