Pavano, Twins strand Sox


FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz threw three wild pitches, hit a batter, walked three and gave up six runs as the Minnesota Twins defeated Boston 7-2 on Tuesday night.

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia left the game after one inning with a strained left wrist that he hurt while diving for a ball in the first inning. He was listed as day-to-day.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer went 1-for-4 with a double the day after signing his eight-year, $184 million contract extension.

Twins starter Carl Pavano struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits in five scoreless innings.
