BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – Jason Cooper doubled to snap a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning, lifting the Buffalo Bisons to a 3-2 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox in the International League Wednesday night.

Cooper’s hit, against Pawtucket reliever Craig Breslow (5-1), drove in Andy Marte, who singled with two out.

Edward Mujica (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Ben Howard posted his 11th save, working out of a jam where he had the tying run at third base with none out.

Buffalo (22-20) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Franklin Gutierrez and Ben Francisco scored when Jason Dubois’ liner was mishandled in the outfield.

Pawtucket (19-20) scored single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to force a tie. Hee-Seop Choi doubled in Dustin Pedroia in the sixth, and Pedroia scored again on an error during a Ron Calloway single.

Jeremy Guthrie, in his first action with Buffalo since being sent down by Cleveland, allowed four hits and a walk in five innings. He was replaced by Thomas Mastny, who made his Triple-A debut with five strikeouts in two innings.

David Riske worked in his third game of a rehabilitation assignment with Pawtucket, pitching a scoreless seventh inning. He allowed a walk and a hit with one out, but retired the next two batters.
