Pedestrian struck by turning vehicle

FARMINGTON — A pedestrian on the Wilton Road was struck Tuesday morning by a vehicle pulling out of the parking lot at Motor Supply.

The driver, Frank Osborne, 21, of Farmington, did not see the pedestrian, Peggy Alexander, 77, of Farmington, walking in the roadway and struck her, said Farmington Police officer Bridgette Gilbert.

Alexander was knocked down and her head struck the pavement. She was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance with a head injury, she added.

By mid-afternoon, a Franklin Memorial spokesman reported Alexander was treated and released.

Osborne and others gathered to help Alexander until emergency personnel could arrive, Gilbert said.

Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene.
