People will ‘groove’ at YMCA workshop

AUBURN — The YMCA will offer two free Group Groove workshops for anyone of any age who wants to have fun and also sweat a bit. ” If you can move, you can Groove,” said Wellness Director Tish Caldwell of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA.

The workshops will take place from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Monday, April 19 and from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22.

Caldwell said of the Group Groove exercise class, “You’ll stomp, flick, wriggle, hip, hop, snap, shimmy, shake, slide, glide, smile and laugh your way through this 60-minute fitness dance exercise class You’ll experience a fusion of club, urban and Latin dance styles with motivating chart topping hits and retro classic tunes. Our supportive, easy going certified Group Groove instructor will help you get a move on with Group Groove.”

Each class will start with a warm-up to get participants loose and ready to move. They will then experience songs taking them through the different dance styles.

Because Group Groove is a cardiovascular fitness program, people can do it once a week or everyday.

Participants must register in advance by calling 795-4095 or stopping by the YMCA front desk.
