Pepsi stays perfect in ASLL Majors


AUBURN – Pepsi upped its record to 4-0 with two Auburn Suburban Little League major division wins last week.

In the first game Pepsi handled Hardy, Wolf & Downing, 13-3. C.J. Jipson, Drew Lashua and Gavin Bates pitched well for Pepsi, opposed by Jack Coyne and Kyle Romero for HWD. Lashua led the Pepsi attack with a pair of hits, including a triple. Drew Tiner was strong in the field for Pepsi, as was Ian Brushwein for HWD.

A pitchers’ duel with HRH ended with Pepsi pulling out a 2-1 triumph. Jarod Norcross-Plourde and C.J. Jipson combined to strike out 14 HRH batters, while Cole Butler, Brandon Knapp and Steve Sinclair whiffed 12 Pepsi hitters.

Jipson led off the sixth innings with a bunt single and eventually scored the winning run on Bates’ base hit. The game featured some key defensive plays by Pepsi’s Skylar Bang, A.J. Parisi and Conner Jackson. Race Bouchard led HRH with the glove.

ASLL Minor Baseball

AUBURN – Rowe Ford brought the bats to an Auburn Suburban Little League minor division weekend battle with American Concrete. Aaron Perkins, Tyler Libby and Nick Martinez led Rowe with five hits apiece, while Colby Levesque added three hits.

Anson Perry scored two runs for American. Joey Leavitt scored another after a sacrifice by Jake Arel. Other hits and outstanding fielding efforts for American Concrete were contributed by Austin Brown, Bobby Tremain, Sebastian Sirois, Liam Flynn, Jacob Hodgman, Tyler Jalbert and Nathan Bartshe.

Elliot Ave. Major Baseball

LEWISTON – Elite Auto defeated Aubuchon Hardware, 12-9, to gain its first Elliot Ave. Little league major baseball win of the season.

Aubuchon scored four runs in the top of the first on RBIs by Jacob Charest, Kyle Gregoire and Megan Gosselin. Elite answered with four of its own in the bottom of the frame on RBIs by Ben Chasse, Jared Rubin and Nate Mercier, who knocked in two. Aubuchon scored two in the seconds and each team scored once in the third, leaving Aubuchon on top, 7-5.

Evan Cox relieved Nick Poland on the mound in the fourth inning and held Aubuchon to only two unearned runs the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Elite batted around the order in the fourth, helped by triples by Damien St. Pierre (two RBIs) and Jason Gonzalez (one RBI). Nate Mercier knocked in two more and Nick Poland one for a total of seven runs in the inning. Cox got the win for Elite, which plays again Tuesday against Anthoine Financial Group.

New Auburn Majors

AUBURN – Poisson’s season in New Auburn Little League baseball got off to a good start with two major division wins.

Bryce Lebel no-hit VFW in a 10-0 victory. Lebel struck out nine batters and walked only three in a four-inning game. Cameron Dubay led the offense with three RBIs.

In its second game, Poisson’s defeated South Lewiston Little League’s Dube Gravel. 14-10. Zach Boyd pitched a strong game fror Poisson, striking out eight batters and allowing only three walks.

Spencer Harrington led the offense with 4 RBIs, including three on a bases-loaded double.

Dube’s offense compiled 11 hits in the high-scoring contest.
