Pet of the week

FARMINGTON – Bailey, a black lab/ American Staffordshire terrier mix, was brought to the Franklin County Animal Shelter as a stray quite some time ago.

Bailey is young, full of energy and eager to please anyone that notices him. Staff said American Staffordshire terrier is the correct term for a pit bull dog and Bailey is still waiting for a home.

Most people think that all pit bulls are mean dogs, but staff said he couldn’t even scare fluffy bunny slippers away. He weighs about 65 pounds and still believes he can fit into anyone’s lap.

Bailey loves to play with just about anything and anyone and sometimes doesn’t know his own strength, so plays a little rough with small children. But he does know some commands and will listen.

He does well with other dogs and likes to chase and play with cats. He does need some obedience training.

New dogs at the shelter include a male beagle from Industry, neutered male Dane/mastiff mix from Farmington, cocker spaniel mix from Farmington, male black terrier mix from New Vineyard, female black lab mix from Livermore Falls and male rotti mix from New Sharon.
