Peter P. Murphy


CANCUN, Mexico – Peter P. Murphy, 42, of Vienna, Va., formerly of Lewiston died unexpectedly while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico, of a heart attack on June 30.

He was born in March 1965, in New York. He was a product of the Lewiston school system, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1983. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Services, and from the University of Michigan Law School. After having served as an assistant to the general counsel of the Department of the Army, he became a partner in the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in their Washington, D.C., office.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila and three children, Patrick, 8, Kevin, 6, and Maeve, 3, all of Vienna, Va.; his father, Tom Murphy of Lewiston; his in-laws, Eunice and Dave Royston of Connecticut; a sister, Cynthia of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Tom of Reading, Mass., and Mike of Redding, Conn.

He was predeceased by his mother, Nancy in 1998.
