Peter S. Van Ham


1959 – 2014

LEWISTON — Peter S. Van Ham, 55, of 187 Jordan Road in Mechanic Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 21, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 17, 1959, he was a son of Robert and Mildred Hildreth Van Ham. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1978.

He worked at the unemployment office in Lewiston for several years and then worked at the Department of Health and Human Services offices in Lewiston and South Paris. For the past year, he was employed as a dealer at Oxford Casino.

Peter enjoyed cooking, working on his 1973 Mustang Mach 1, walking his dog, Sadie, and playing with his cats, Charlie, Angel and Roscoe.

Survivors include his life partner and best friend of 20 years, Mary-Jo Nappi, of Mechanic Falls; his parents, Robert and Mildred Van Ham of Dedham, Mass.; a stepson, Joshua Pomerleau, of Arcata, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Danielle Pomerleau and husband, Hansel Garcia, of Auburn; three brothers, Philip Van Ham and husband, Benjamin Rosario, of Largo, Fla., Richard and wife, Joan, of Wilmington, N.C., and David and wife, Kayo, of Osaka, Japan; a sister, Melissa van Hamme and wife, Amanda, of Dedham, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Linda Van Ham, of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Dante, Giovani and Rafael Garcia, with another grandchild on the way.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert N. Van Ham II, who passed away in 2011.
