Danielle Eaton and Paul Roy unload a mounted grizzly bear from the back of a truck on Lisbon Street in Lewiston on Tuesday. The bear is one of seven animal mounts that were once part of the Smithsonian Institution’s collection and will be on display at Lewiston Auburn Magazine for the next six months. The Smithsonian, in Washington, D.C., donated the animals to Nokomis Regional High School taxidermy teacher Howard Whitten for educational purposes. Whitten’s students in Newport repaired the mounts, and Whitten since has loaned the animals to organizations for display. Eaton is the magazine’s operations manager. Roy is director of sales.
