Place named chief of imaging


LEWISTON – Dr. James N. Place has been appointed chief of imaging services at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Place, who grew up in Wayne, is a 1986 graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine. He performed both his Internship and Residency at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, along with specialized residencies at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston, and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC.

Special interests in his practice include: CT, ultrasound, pediatric radiology, mammography, CT & ultrasound interventional procedures, stereotactic breast biopsy, small bowel imaging.

A member of the Spectrum Medical Group, Place served as medical director at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H., prior to his appointment at St. Mary’s.

He resides in Turner with his family.
