Poisonous words

This is in response to the July 12 article, “Miracle in Kennedy Park.”

I could hardly believe my eyes when reading the words “belly up” and “white flesh.” The person being described has dealt with a serious affliction since childhood, without complaint and with dignity. He is loved by his family, and respected by family and many friends.

Regardless of that, he is a human being, and deserving of compassion on many levels.

Then the columnist seemed to turn his poison pen to ridicule the kind people who prayed for the victim. Prayer changes things. Compassion changes things.

Unfortunately, so does ridicule.
