Poland Spring opening for season


POLAND SPRING – The Maine State Building and All Souls Chapel will open for the season on Tuesday, May 2. There are new exhibits, “Step Back in Time,” and the history of Ricker Hill, the Ricker Family, Poland Spring Water, Columbian World’s Fair and Famous Visitors will be told. Volunteers are needed for various duties. Call 998-4142 for more information. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The Maine State Building is home of the Nettie Ricker Art Gallery, which will start the season with a student art show on May 2. Featured will be students from Poland Regional High School and Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The display will end May 16.

On May 29 the “All in the Family Art Show” will open, featuring artists who are related, and on July 28 the “Print Show” will open. It will end Oct. 31. Anyone interested in displaying art at a show should call Linda at 998-4142 for more information.

The second annual Poland Spring Caddy Camp Reunion will be held Aug. 29. Staff is trying to locate caddy camp photos from 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1961. Anyone who has a photo should call 998-4142.

The second annual quilt retreat will be held Sept. 15 and 16 at the Poland Spring Resort, hosted by the Poland Spring Preservation Society. Froncie Quinn of Vermont will share her talent and knowledge at a workshop. There will also be vendors and a yard sale. For more information or to make reservations, call the above number.
